As resident dj of TOWN in DC (twice a month, next date May 10th) and John Blair’s Saturdays at SPLASH NYC (once a month, next dates May 17th and 31st), things are great! It feels kind of “old-school” these days, and I am much more intimately involved with the crowds at these venues. Doing only three weeks out of the month at my residencies still affords me the luxury of playing favorite venues all over the USA. In May, I will be in Pensacola Saturday of Memorial Weekend at Johnny Chisholm’s Emerald City nigihtclub, and I will be working with Gus Presents and Luke Johnstone in San Francisco Memorial Sunday.
The Global Groove ‘08 tour is going great. We have had some really cool events. The sponsors have been instrumental. I mean (Undergear), at which other event do you have people pulling underwear out of their gift bags, comparing theirs with strangers, and swapping with one another for the right fit LOL? And where else do you have people running around taking pictures of the patrons with the big Travelocity Gnome? I took the very first pic of the tour next the Gnome, putting my headphones on his head….OH, Everyone wants to be a dj these days!
The Global Groove Live cd is selling like hotcakes. Whereas Escape and I probably didn’t know what it would be like to produce one disk together, we have no doubts now. It was a great team effort, and two heads were better than one in selecting the songs. It has been great to see that the cd immediately was a number one seller in a lot of on and offline retail outlets (Thanks, Perfect Beat!).
One last note:
Thanks to everyone who came to the National Hotel after Winter Party. My set fell squarely between Joe Gauthreaux’s Winter Party set and Tony Moran’s intense nonstop energy, which allowed to flex my sexy-house and electro-tribal muscle a bit. For me, having lived in Miami, the day was a chance to reconnect with many of the old-school friends and circuit buddies. I also met a lot of great guys from all over (thanks for all of you who came up to the booth).
Peace, Love, and Beats,
David
